| الملخص: | ABSTRACT This research was carried out at the Hospital Instituto Ecuatoriano de Seguridad Social (IESS) to characterize venous insufficiency in patients undergoing surgery with radiofrequency ablation from 2018-2020. The critical research is in the incidence of the disease and the occupational and aesthetic problems, investigating the risk factors, the degree of satisfaction, and the qualities of the radiofrequency treatment. In this context, the type of research carried out is descriptive - retrospective, cross-sectional, with a population of 75 male and female patients aged between 25-95 years. To obtain data, used the AS400 system by the institution. The results reported: about the risk factors for the development of the disease is the female gender with 68% as well as the body mass index, where we have figures of overweight 60% and obesity 40%, the pathology is frequent in the adult population, working actively; Regarding the surgery, they expressed satisfaction with it and, in the minority, figures of symptomatic recurrence were obtained, of 13.3%. In conclusion, the studied population has acceptance towards the surgical intervention, and the hospital period is short; therefore, the prompt return to activities and the aesthetic factor is essential for the patients. By improving those modifiable risk factors, the progression of the disease can be avoided. Keywords: vein insufficiency, radiofrequency, varicose veins Reviewed by: Ms.C.
