| Summary: | Intestinal parasitosis is a worldwide public health problem and is among the ten leading causes of morbidity. Blastocystis is one of the most prevalent parasitic agents and has a worldwide distribution in both humans and animals. This research aims to evaluate the association of Blastocystis with the rest of enteroparasites in inhabitants of the communities of Laturún, Tunsalao, Tomapampa, and La Esperanza in the parish of San Andrés. Coproparasitary analyses were performed on 106 inhabitants of the four districts mentioned, to whom standardized coproparasitary diagnostic techniques were applied (direct examination, Ritchie, Kato-Katz, and Ziehl Neelsen). The most relevant results with the statistical application of the Chi-square revealed a low association between Blastocystis sp. And the challenge of enteroparasites found in the study population. It determined that the highest parasitic prevalence is in males and preschoolers and that most of the population is plagued by protozoa. |
