الوصف
الملخص:The present research called "Parents" level of knowledge about dental hygiene in children with tooth decay diagnosis" was mainly focused on analyzing the parents’ level of knowledge about oral health in relation to children between 3 and 5 years with caries diagnosis from “Mercedes Amelia Guerrero” primary school in Chambo town. The study corresponds to a mixed investigative design of descriptive type of cross-section, involving a population of 1500 parents and a sample of 60 children. In order to develop the tooth decay diagnosis, it was applied the “CEOD” index. Regarding the level of knowledge, it was applied a survey with statistical validation and expert criteria as well. As a result, it was determined that in relation to the “CEOD” index of tooth decay: 45% showed a very high level and 20% a high level. On the other hand, in relation to level of knowledge: 40% showed low level, 37% average level and 23% high level. These results were analyzed statistically by applying “Pearson's Chi-square Test” that determined the level of association between the variables. However, it was concluded that there is no relationship between the parents’ level of knowledge about oral health, and the children’ oral health status. Therefore, based on the study results, it was developed a guide for oral hygiene in children between 3 to 5 years old. This proposal guide is founded on scientific and theoretical criteria, which can be easily applied.
