| Resumo: | ABSTRACT: The objective of this research work was to propose a protocol of ergonomic risks for the dental care unit of the National University of Chimborazo, which identification of ergonomic positions that can cause problems or pathologies in the short or long term. For the collection of information, the four-handed technique was applied. That is working together with a dental assistant or auxiliary, recommending the use of students of lower levels for this effect, facilitating the first contact with the working environment of the clinics, using a qualitative study of a descriptive and transversal type, applied in a study population of 106 students of the dental practice clinics in their four levels, where it was demonstrated that the level of knowledge is acceptably good. However, it was concluded that the working postures registered in the dental practices were mainly incorrect since most of the respondents reported back discomfort. In addition, an ergonomic protocol focused on the needs of the clinics can be applied in all stages of learning and daily work of a student or oral health professional. This protocol is intended to serve as a basis for defining a legally established protocol for preventing the development of pathologies that frequently affect dentists and that the university can use freely to improve the quality of life of its student population.
