Description
Summary:The present research work focuses on describing the factors associated with applying ethnomathematics as a didactic tool by teachers and students of the Intercultural Bilingual Community Educational Unit Quilloac in the province of Cañar. The methodological perspective of the research was qualitative, being also multimethodical in those techniques of collection and analysis of both views were used, qualitative and quantitative. It has a field modality since data were collected directly in the reality of the object of study. It contains a methodical hermeneutic basis since human action was studied. Mathematics teachers at the higher basic education level and high school students were selected as key informants since, being at this level, they have a more transparent and more precise vision of the process undergone in higher primary education. The technique used was the interview and, as an instrument, the script of referential questions, using technological resources such as audio and video recording in the Microsoft Teams platform and the conversion of audio to text for the analysis using categorization. Additionally, a survey was applied to students using virtual media such as Google Drive, which allowed formulating and providing sufficient ease and comfort for its development. To conclude, teachers and students demonstrated excellent knowledge regarding the factors that can be used as teaching tools for applying ethnomathematics; teachers instill the use of materials provided by the environment and impart their ancestral knowledge of their indigenous groups where they work and academically.
