| Summary: | This research project aimed to analyze aromatherapy and the control of anxiety levels in patients who attended the Dental Clinic of Universidad Nacional de Chimborazo. The study was conducted with a population of 1146 and a sample of 70 patients from 20 to 35 years of age. A cross-sectional quantitative study and a correlational descriptive type research were used. A pre and post vital signs were taken including lavender essence for the application of aromatherapy which was placed in the palms of the patient's hands for 1 minute in order to be perceived by them. A psychometric test and the observation were used as techniques and their instruments were the questionnaire and the observation sheet, they served to collect the data that were subsequently processed. The main results obtained in the research through the SPSS statistical system determined that the level of anxiety that prevailed in the patients was the moderate level with 35.7%, followed by the mild level with 25.7%, the severe level with 24, 3% and finally the high with 14.3%. Regarding the variation of the vital signs before and after the application of aromatherapy, it was determined that there were statistically significant differences in the initial and final respiratory rate where p = 0.00 and the initial and final systolic blood pressure where p = 0.009, while there were no statistically significant differences for pulse and diastolic blood pressure. |
