Summary:Integrating artificial intelligence into education is a growing phenomenon that presents both opportunities and challenges. This research project analyzes the use of artificial intelligence among students in the Basic Education Program at the National University of Chimborazo. The research follows a mixed-methods approach, with data collection and analysis centered on numerical data gathered though a survey technique using a 15- question questionnaire and non-numerical data obtained through interviews with the study subjects. This approach aims to achieve a more comprehensive understanding of the topic. The study is social, cross-sectional, and employs a non-experimental research design, as variables are not manipulated, and observations are made in a real-world context. The sample is probabilistic-stratified because the investigation identified a high percentage of artificial intelligence usage in the academic field, along with weak ethical and moral stances in the development of academic and research work and limited knowledge about the proper use of this tool.
