Thus, an exhaustive theoretical review was carried out on the use and distribution of time, the gender approach, and the relationship between both concepts. Subsequently, the instrument to obtain the desired results was established, in this case, a survey that included information variables, control variables, and a series of questions focused on the number of hours that the respondent dedicates to the activities described. The survey was applied to 288 people in the Riobamba canton. Once the information was collected, the Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) econometric model was applied in the STATA program, considering the informative data and the hours dedicated to paid activities (work). The results revealed an evident gender gap in the use and distribution of time. In general, it was found that women dedicate less time to paid work than men (ratio 6:5 hours), while they dedicate more time to domestic work (ratio 3:1 hours). These differences in the use of time depend on specific variables such as age, marital status, level of education, having children under 5 years of age in care, and income level, which, at the same time determine the daily use of time of individuals, for example; The age between 30 – 40 years for men suggests an increase of 1.4 minutes in paid activities compared to 0.7 minutes in the case of women of the same age.
