Criminalidad y su efecto sobre el crecimiento económico del Ecuador, periodo 2010-2020.

This investigative work aims to determine the relationship between crime and its effect on the economic growth of Ecuador, period 2010-2020. To achieve the stated objective, the deductive research approach was taught, which allowed analyzing the main data on crime and economic growth. The type of research is longitudinal because it explores the reasons for the evolution of economic and criminal aspects. The research design is not experimental, through a database citizen security indicators were built, and with the information from the provincial accounts of the Central Bank of Ecuador, the annual Gross Domestic Product per capita was obtained, the data was submitted to a single model using Generalized Least Squares – GLS. In the study, it was identified that there is a significant relationship between the variables, concluding that, for every 1% that the homicide rate varies, GDP per capita will vary in the same direction by 0.2229%, which demonstrates a positive relationship between crime and economic growth in Ecuador between 2010 and 2020, therefore, Ecuador will be able to influence the behavior of criminality as the economic situation improves and public policies aimed at creating sources of employment are implemented.
