סיכום:Cognitive impairment is part of aging; however, when it becomes pathological, it can interfere with the autonomy of the elderly. This condition affects a large percentage of the worldwide population. Then, based on this reality, one of the possible protective factors that has more scientific support is the Cognitive Reserve. The present study was carried out through using a quantitative, descriptive, cross-sectional, non-experimental approach. The aim of this research was to analyze the Cognitive Reserve and Cognitive Impairment on patients at Integral Attention Center for the Elderly in Guano canton. It has been worked with a non-probabilistic sample consisting of 24 clinical records of the older adults between 67 and 35 years old. They were studied through a documentary review guide, which records their results obtained in the Brief Neuropsychological Evaluation Battery in Spanish and a Questionnaire of the Cognitive Reserve Index. At the end, the results demonstrated that the total Cognitive Reserve Index score, the 76 score stands for medium-low impairment, meanwhile a lower score was obtain at leisure time rate. Regarding to Cognitive Impairment, 16 patients displayed aging deterioration. On the other hand, six patients showed a Mild Cognitive Impairment. Finally, one patient presented severe Cognitive Impairment. Overall, the most affected cognitive functions are selective attention, non-verbal memory, constructions skills and executive motor functions. Consequently, some cognitive stimulation strategies are proposed to employ among those patients in the mentioned gerontological center
