Summary:This research project was entitled "Familiar Functionality and Depression in agents of the Judicial Police in Ambato 2018-2019" the main objective was the degree of familiar functionality and the level of depression in the agents of the Judicial Police in Ambato. The study design was transversal, a field research, using mainly a descriptive level, the population was 60 agents, the instruments for obtaining quantitative data have been the Family APGAR and Beck Depression Inventory. Among the results, more than 50% of the population showed familiar dysfunctionality, with 18.3% of a degree of severe dysfunction prevailing. In the depression scale, 56.7% had depression levels between moderate and severe levels. The analysis of these two variables showed that the problem is associated with depression, while the evaluated one presents a greater degree of dysfunction, the higher the level of depression, which is a risk factor for the police agent to develop depressive symptoms, in the base to the results were found the results were proposed a psychological intervention plan to strengthen the links between the members and reduce the depressive symptomatology
