Concepto maitland para el tratamiento de patologías de columna vertebral en pacientes que acuden al hospital básico 11 BCB “galápagos” en el período julio- diciembre 2016

By the side an 80% of the population has suffered at least once discomfort in one of the three zones of the vertebral column: cervical, dorsal or lumbar, with diverse synpathology according to the age and the physical conditions in which they are. For this reason we have seen the necessity to look for new therapeutic approaches that help an early reincorporation to normal personal, family or laboral activities and above all that improve the joint amplitude of the patient's spine. The use of manual techniques such as the Maitland Concept are part of patients' preferred choices thanks to direct contact and ease of adaptation according to the needs required. This investigation was carried out with the objective of applying this technique in the treatment of patients with spinal pathologies who come to the rehabilitation area in the General Basic Hospital 11 BCB "Galapagos" to improve the biomechanical conditions, taking into account that there is a high Prevalence of cervicalgia, back pain and low back pain; in support of this reason it is necessary to complement the conventional physiotherapeutic plan for an integral and long-term recovery, working in a personalized way and adapting different mobilizations according to the evolution of the patient. At the conclusion of this research project, an improvement in functional movements accompanied by a decrease in pain according to the visual analogue scale (EVA) was verified, together with the measurement of the movement arcs of the three areas of the spine applied at the beginning and at the end of the art.
