Sumari:The objective of the research work was to determine the relationship of self-esteem with the development of social skills in the 3rd year students of Unified General Baccalaureate "A" and "B", of the Educational Unit "Dr. Emilio Uzcátegui, Cebadas Parish, Guamote Canton, October 2018-March 2019 Period ", being of great importance within the personal development of the students. Self-esteem is considered as a cognitive structure of evaluative experience, real and ideal that a person makes of himself, conditioned socially in his training and expression, which implies an internal and external evaluation of himself. Social Skills are the set of verbal and non-verbal responses, particularly independent and situationally specific, through which an individual develops. Methodologically we worked with a quantitative approach, the design is non-experimental, by time it is transversal, by the level or scope it is descriptive correlational, by the place it is field, bibliographic, the sample was not probabilistic and intentional on the part of the researcher and consists of 37 students of the selected Institution. For the data collection Psychometric tests were used, as an instrument the Coopersmith Self-esteem Scale was used, in which it allows us to determine the 3 levels of self-esteem; Elena Gismero's Scale (Social Skills EHS), in which the highest final score within the different groups of social skills that the student can present on the basis of its development In conclusion, it was determined that self-esteem has a great relationship within the development of the social skills of the students of the Educational Unit Dr. Emilio Uzcátegui of the parish of Cebadas.
