Riassunto:The following thesis presents the design and implementation of an electronic system for feeding individuals with motor disabilities in the upper extremities. The prototype is based on an adapted spoon for individuals with Parkinson’s disease, ergonomically designed and integrated with a sensor that controls the spoon’s movement in response to the arm’s motion. Additionally, straps and a bag are included to provide comfort to the patient. Data were collected over a 15- day period using 100-gram portions of food, measuring both the amount ingested by the patient and the amount spilled. To verify the prototype's functionality, the patient eats while the system performs the necessary movements to facilitate feeding autonomy. Results show that the prototype allows the patient to ingest up to 92 grams of food out of 100 grams, compared to a maximum of 35 grams with a regular spoon. This significant improvement highlights the positive impact of the prototype on performing an essential daily activity such as feeding.
