Resumo: | The present investigation was carried out in bibliographic review modality, which refers to the topic “efficacy of the autogenous drainage technique in pediatric patients with cystic fibrosis”. It is important to expand knowledge about this technique because autogenous drainage is little applied in the treatment of cystic fibrosis in pediatric patients in our country. Cystic fibrosis is a fatal and incurable lung disease, caused by a genetic alteration, which is characterized by an abnormal production of pulmonary mucus, with respiratory symptoms that may or may not begin in childhood, and with severe manifestations in adulthood, that cause subsequent complications, when they are not treated properly. Autogenous drainage, on the other hand, is a respiratory physiotherapy technique that uses different lung volumes, for bronchial cleaning and respiratory obstruction, without the need to use equipment, but which requires the patient's conscious collaboration. The databases in which the information was obtained in order of greater quantity to smaller quantity of articles was: Scopus, Google Scholar, PubMed, ProQuest, Cochrane, PEDro, SciELO. The research project concludes that autogenous drainage is an effective technique for airway unobstruction in pediatric patients with cystic fibrosis either applied alone or in combination with other bronchial cleansing techniques. |
