| Achoimre: | This research aims about the rehabilitation of architectural heritage in disuse, using as a reference case the patrimonial house belonging to the family León Cevallos, located in Yaruquíes parish, Ríobamba canton. This building, was built between 1950 and 1960 and has an outstanding historical and architectural value, but it is in state of abandonment and deterioration due to lack of care, humidity in its structure and replacement of original materials. The main objective was to provide a manual of procedures for its correct rehabilitation, which would also be used as a reference for similar constructions. We used a qualitative approach, with a non-experimental design, and we used the Anamnesis-Diagnosis-Therapy methodology, which is well known in the field of heritage conservation. We used methods such as document review, legislation analysis and field data collection to evaluate the conservation condition of the building. The results demonstrate the need to act with technical criteria, preserving the original elements such as adobe walls, wooden windows and tile roofs, and ensuring the durability of the interventions. Consequently, the involvement of the community, the use of traditional resources and respect for regulations are essential to preserve the authenticity of heritage. We suggest promoting heritage education, managing institutional resources and stimulating the practical use of the property as a home, ensuring its conservation and social benefit. |
