總結:ABSTRACT: The objective of this research project was to analyze the cognitive deterioration and quality of life of the elderly at Hospital General Puyo in the year 2022. The type of research was bibliographical and documentary, of a cross-sectional design, with a quantitative and correlational level. The sample consisted of 125 clinical records, whose ages are between 65 and 99 years of age. For the data collection, the observation sheet instrument was used, in order to obtain true information from the clinical records about the instruments used: Mini Mental State Examination, which aims to detect and determine cognitive deterioration, as well as how to denote the picture of evolution in patients who present neurological alterations, especially in the elderly and the Gencat Quality of Life Scale, which allows the identification of an individual's quality of life profile. Regarding the results, it can be noted that 54.4% of older adults present cognitive impairment, on the other hand, 66% of older adults present low quality, where the most affected dimensions are material, emotional and physical well-being. Accordingly, a significantly high positive relationship (Rho= .601 and p<0.01) is established between cognitive impairment and quality of life, indicating that when cognitive functions are preserved, quality of life is maintained; Likewise, when cognitive functions decrease, a low quality of life is evidenced in the adult population.
