Резюме:The exploration of ectopic pregnancy addresses a crucial issue in the field of gynecology, being one of the main causes of maternal mortality during the first trimester of pregnancy. This study aims to identify and examine the risk factors and complications linked to this condition, with the aim of improving prevention and treatment in the Ecuadorian context. The main goal of this research is to recognize the risk factors and complications of ectopic pregnancy in women who receive care in health centers in Ecuador. The study follows a qualitative approach and a descriptive-cross-sectional design. Data collection was carried out through a systematic review of previous research and the analysis of medical records. The selection is made up of 30 scientific investigations published between 2017 and 2024, extracted from the Google Scholar database. This collection includes 30 recent studies that address the risks and complications of ectopic pregnancy, presented in academic journals. The results of the study indicate that the main risk factors for this type of pregnancy are sexually transmitted infections, previous pelvic surgery, and the use of intrauterine devices. The most frequent complications include internal bleeding and the need for emergency surgery. The research concludes that the key to reducing the incidence of ectopic pregnancy lies in education and prevention. It is essential to strengthen public health tactics in order to promote early identification and adequate treatment of this situation, which will help reduce the number of deaths and illnesses in pregnant women.
