Opis
Sažetak:The research entitled "Comparative study of the in vitro antibacterial effect of calcium hydroxide with propylene glycol and Glycerin on Enterococcus faecalis", seeks to verify the antibacterial effect of calcium hydroxide with these two components as an intraconduct drug to present an elimination alternative Of Enterococcus faecalis in endodontic treatment. This inquiry was carried out in the clinical laboratory "Movilab s.a. Of the city of Ambato, a study was carried out in which 20 Petri dishes with filter paper discs soaked with Calcium Hydroxide with Glycerin and Calcium Hydroxide with Propylene Glycol were used in percentages of 5-10-15-20-25-50 -75-100%, respectively in Muller Hinton culture media in which the Enterococcus faecalis was previously seeded and then incubated for 24 hours at 35 ° C. The results of the measurements of the inhibition halos were interpreted through the diffusion disc technique standardized by CLSI (Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute), where the results of the different concentrations showed that the antimicrobial effect does not differ in function Of the substance used, whether this Calcium Hydroxide with Propylene Glycol or Calcium Hydroxide with Glycerin. That is to say, when analyzing the data of the diameters of halos by the type of substance, it is observed that in all cases the level of sensitivity is "average" or "extremely sensitive". Therefore, it can be affirmed that both methods are effective and present similar results, whose purpose is to promote the eradication of microorganisms in the root canals. "(2)
