Итог:ABSTRACT Introduction: Acute appendicitis is presented as a serious public health problem that puts the lives of patients at potential risk, because if they are not treated in a timely manner they can present complications, studies carried out in this regard have previously analyzed a variety of biomarkers associated with this pathology to propose the risk of suffering from it and obtain greater diagnostic accuracy. Objective: The proposed research work was carried out to determine the usefulness of c-reactive protein and leukocyte count in the suspicion of acute appendicitis, through a detailed, critical and precise bibliographic review of the subject, covering publications and scientific articles published in recent years. 5 years. Methodology: For this purpose, we worked with a type of descriptive, qualitative and documentary research, the design is based on the bibliographical review with a qualitative approach; Scopus, academic Google, PubMed Central, ClinicalKey and UpToDate search engines were used to collect the information; A total of 59 bibliographic references were analyzed between publications, scientific articles and documents from websites that met the inclusion criteria, the documents used had a maximum duration of 5 years and were obtained in both English and Spanish. Discussion: The contrast of information analyzed may be due to the type of study and methodology used in each publication, as well as the environment where they were carried out; In most investigations it was determined that the elevation of biomarkers (leukocyte count and PCR) is associated with AA complications, therefore, given these laboratory findings, appendectomy should be performed as soon as possible. Conclusion: In Ecuador, a complete blood count including white blood cell count should be indicated for all patients with symptoms of abdominal pain in RIF suggestive of AA, while CRP for patients with manifestations that suggest complications (peritonitis or sepsis) and who In all scenarios in which biomarkers present high values, the clinical reasoning of the physician related to the manifestations found in the clinical history should prevail, in order to avoid interventions in patients with normal appendages.
