Sumari:Traffic congestion worldwide has given clues to the research for new transportation systems, Holland has 28 daily trips by bicycle per person worldwide, in Bogota-Colombia 4.92% of trips are made by bicycle according to the Mobility Surveys Official 2015 (EMO) while in Quito-Ecuador 0.3% use the bicycle to travel according to mobility surveys of 2011. In the Province of Chimborazo exists a high growth of vehicles with 47064 vehicles according to the National Transit Agency (ANT) 2016, so it is necessary to look for new systems of sustainable transportation that reduce congestion and pollution, Riobamba being a flat city, can count on the implementation of bikeways, so the objective of this research is to determine the feasibility and implementation of bikeways as a transverse axis of mobility in Riobamba city, allowing the movement of cyclists in the East-West direction. The method of this investigation was descriptive and exploratory, collecting data through the inspection of road infrastructure, surveys, and the use of an evaluation matrix. Finding that it is feasible to implement the bike way as a transverse axis of mobility in Riobamba city with an acceptance of 97% between the respondents that coincide with the implementation of the same and 89% indicate that they would use the bicycle as a means of transport . From the alternatives proposed, the optimum was determined, which has a score of nineteen out of twenty-one (19/21) according to the evaluation procedure. In accordance with the national strategic plan of bicycle lanes and with the current ordinances of the Riobamba Autonomous Decentralized Government, this proposal is made to improve the transportation plan city
