Miêu tả
Tóm tắt:This research analyzes pre-prosthetic surgery in mucosa-supported total prosthesis rehabilitation to recognize its effectiveness. The presented research was bibliographical, which involves detecting and selecting documents from scientific databases based on the questions posed in the project. This exploration compiles existing information from specialized texts to organize the available knowledge. It is determined that the success of a removable total prosthesis is based on understanding the relationship between the prosthesis' biomechanical principles and the absence of bone or mucosal defects, which involves the surgical preparation of the prosthetic bed. Retention, stability, and support are essential aspects of prosthetic design, and the proper interaction between these will be crucial to ensure the viability of the treatment and the functionality of the prosthesis. The indications for preprosthetic surgery go hand in hand with proper planning and interdisciplinary management between the rehabilitation specialist and the surgeon. In cases where the edentulous ridge defects are severe and compromise the biomechanical principles of the prosthesis, it is better to opt for a conservative approach. The patient's general health is also an essential factor. Although other rehabilitation alternatives, such as implants, currently exist, this treatment is appropriate when economic considerations are a constraint and patients require prosthetic rehabilitation.
