| Summary: | This research aimed to determine the importance of the application of Metacognitive Strategies to improve reading comprehension. For this, reading workshops were designed to apply metacognitive strategies. This project had a qualitative approach because it aims to observe and detail actual events, measure social phenomena, and do cause-effect analysis. It is field research since direct contact with the study phenomenon was maintained, and data and information were collected directly from reality using collection techniques. It is descriptive because the development and predominant skills were described; explanatory because it represents and describes the objective reality, applied by, has the purpose of solving the problem posed, enriching educational practice and professional, cultural, and scientific development. The research was carried out with a population of thirty-six students and one teacher, applying some techniques, among the most relevant the observation, survey, and interview technique and each one with its instrument, the observation sheet, the questionnaire, and the structured interview. For the analysis and interpretation of the results, the respective measurement units and procedural methods were taken into account through descriptive and inferential analysis, concluding that it is essential to apply metacognitive strategies, since they are the critical point to teach in the reading process, because it improves reading comprehension, allowing our brain not only to save the information but to be questioned. |
