Özet: | ABSTRACT: This research corresponds to the analysis of the influence of the socio-family environment and its relationship with the degree of knowledge of students and teachers about oral health in 4 educational units of sector 2 of the city of Riobamba. This research was observational, descriptive and cross-sectional; information was collected from 9 teachers and 100 students. The technique used to obtain the data was observation and survey, and the instruments used were the questionnaire and clinical history. The data to measure the caries index and the plaque index were obtained based on clinical histories. As a result, 63% of the schoolchildren had a poor level of bacterial plaque, 36% were acceptable and only 1% were questionable. However, despite the presence of plaque, the CPOD-ceod index was favorable, with a low caries index of 87%. With respect to statistical significance, an association was found between the levels of knowledge of the students with the level of caries according to the CPOD and ceod index, and the levels of plaque evaluated by the O'Leary index (p=0.031). Finally, it could be concluded that the oral health status of the schoolchildren is totally independent of the socio-familial environment and the level of knowledge of the teachers, and that the oral health indicators were encouraging in most cases. |
