Tratamiento informativo de los temas ambientales en los medios de comunicación impresos de la ciudad de Riobamba, periodo 1990 - 2000.

This research aims to analyze the informative treatment of environmental issues in Riobamba's print media during the period 1990-2000. Through the study of the informative treatment in this context, we will identify the genres, approaches and journalistic styles, environmental issues with greater treatment and other categories that will be analyzed in the local print media in the newspapers La Prensa, Los Andes and El Espectador. The theoretical support of this research is based on conceptualizations of the media and the informative treatment from the functionalist theory of communication, in addition, in the theoretical framework basic conceptualizations are added on: communication, mass communication, environmental journalism and a list addressing environmental issues is also incorporated. Subsequently, the quantitative and qualitative methodology will be used. This is due to the fact that a systematic process was carried out to analyze and interpret data and information of the informative content through the application of content analysis matrices. The application of the qualitative methodology through structured interviews with journalists and experts in environmental issues who have worked in the printed media of Riobamba in the period indicated, results were obtained that are contrasted with the results of the content analysis from the perspective of the informative treatment of environmental issues. Finally, through the results obtained, a scientific article with the assigned research topic will be made and later sent to a scientific journal for its possible publication with the intention of contributing to studies in this field.
