| Sumari: | The main objective of this research study was to discuss the clinical manifestations and laboratory diagnostic methods for the identification of leptospirosis. Leptospira spp. is a Gram-negative, obligate aerobic pathogen that causes leptospirosis, a zoonosis transmitted by direct or indirect contact with the urine of infected animals. This research was carried out using literature reviews to gather information about the clinical manifestations and diagnosis of this pathology. This is a descriptive, retrospective, cross-sectional, documentary study. About 105 scientific articles were reviewed and 50 were selected according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data were collected using observation and by applying a bibliographic compilation form; the main results regarding the symptoms of leptospirosis were: headache, fever, chills, myalgia, and asthenia. This pathology has an annual mortality rate of 5-10%, and the main risk factors are associated with health conditions, farmers, livestock farmers, and natural disasters such as floods. Laboratory diagnosis is carried out by rapid tests, with immunochromatographic serological tests being the most widely used because they are cost-effective and efficient. Tests such as microscopic agglutination (MAT), immunofluorescence (IF-IgM), and molecular techniques such as real-time PCR improve the diagnostic reliability of this pathology. |
