Sammanfattning:Traditional games are important in the educational field because they promote interactive and practical learning in addition to revaluing culture. Therefore, they have been used as learning strategies in various areas, such as Social Sciences. The learning of Ecuadorian cultures through the bibliographic review of antecedents and the state of the art is usually mostly theoretical and of little interest, but paradoxically, it is of vital importance in the formation of student’s cultural recognition and identity. The purpose of this research was to determine traditional games as a strategy for learning Ecuadorian cultures by establishing the importance of traditional games in learning. Through techniques such as interviews and log records, the various strategies used by elementary school teachers for learning Ecuadorian cultures were identified. The research focus is qualitative, non-experimental, and transversal, with an exploratory, descriptive, and propositional scope. Among the most relevant findings, it is mentioned that teachers do not use playful strategies for learning Ecuadorian cultures but rather base themselves on strategies alienated from traditional pedagogical models such as dictations, school text readings, and worksheets, which leads to demotivation, little participation from children, making the subject and learning tedious and tiresome. When referring to the study of Ecuadorian cultures, relevant topics are discussed for the integral formation of the student; therefore, this research culminates with the proposal of a guide to strategies based on traditional games for learning Ecuadorian cultures.
