Miêu tả
Tóm tắt:Introduction: Cervical radiculopathy is the compression or irritation of the nerve roots in the cervical region, with clinical manifestations such as pain, muscle weakness, and paresthesias in the neck, spectacular girdle, and upper limb areas. Manual therapy, through techniques such as neural mobilization, cervical traction, manipulation, and physical exercise to strengthen the cervical stabilizing musculature, as well as stretching exercises, is a physiotherapeutic treatment that helps reduce pain, increase range of motion, functionality, postural stability, and quality of life in people. The objective is to analyze the effectiveness of manual therapy and physical exercise in adult patients with cervical radiculopathy. Methodology: The research design employs a documentary, bibliographic, descriptive, and inductive method. Studies were collected from various scientific databases, including PubMed, Elsevier, Scielo, Trip, Cochrane Library, Scopus, and Pedro, spanning the period from 2014 to 2024, utilizing Boolean operators for enhanced search precision. Results: During the search, we found 100 randomized controlled trials that have two or three research variables, as defined by the inclusion and exclusion criteria. After analyzing the PEDro scale, the development culminates in 22 RCTs, which comprise the sample. Conclusion: Manual therapy and physical exercise are effective treatments to treat the primary conditions associated with cervical radiculopathy: dysfunction in the mobility and stability of the cervical spine, muscular hypotonia, sensory alterations such as paresthesia and anesthesia, with the possible presence of loss of reflexes, as well as a significant deterioration in the quality of life of patients.
