| סיכום: | ABSTRACT: Introduction: In pregnancy, it is known that the hormonal and physiological changes that occur throughout the gestational stage can significantly impact oral health, especially concerning the development of dental caries. Objective: To determine the correlation between age, level of education, ethnicity, and the presence of dental caries in pregnant women who attend the Cordero Crespo Health Center in Guaranda during the period January 2019 to January 2020. Methodology: Observational, cross-sectional research and descriptive, considering as a sample the totality of the clinical histories of the pregnant patients who have attended the dental area of the "Cordero Crespo" Health Center in the city of Guaranda, during the period January 2019 - January 2020, being a total of 238 pregnant women. Results: The prevalence of dental caries in pregnant women amounts to 88.66%, indicating a high prevalence in the studied sample. In addition, the ethnic group most frequently belongs to the mestizo ethnic group, following with the indigenous and white ethnic groups. However, the highest average of dental caries corresponds to the indigenous ethnic group with 5.7. Women between the ages of 15-17 Have a very high caries average and are significantly differentiated from the other groups with 9.5. Finally, for the level of education and the average number of dental caries, minimal variability is shown despite having marked differences between the numbers of samples that have been grouped in the levels of education reported. It was possible to establish that there is a correlation between age and the presence of caries in pregnant women, since a slightly marked level of significance is evidenced between them, the same occurs with the level of education (Asymptotic significance P < 0.1), Nevertheless; to ethnicity, it was determined that there is no correlation between both variables since a level of significance of association is not reported (Asymptotic significance P > 0.1)). Conclusion: There is evidence of a high prevalence of dental caries in pregnant women who attended the "Cordero Crespo" Health Center in Guaranda from January 2019- January 2020. There is also a correlation between age and level of education, with the appearance of said oral problem in this focus group.
