Shrnutí:The research project aimed to evaluate the degree of microbial contamination of gutta-percha cones exposed to the clinical environment which were used by dental students for use in endodontic treatment. The type of research was experimental and observational, the technique was the direct observation and its logbook instrument, in which the procedures and results of the research were recorded. The population of this study was made up of 164 boxes of gutta-percha cones, 20 boxes of the first series were selected that met the selection criteria through an intentional non-probabilistic sampling, 20 samples were taken for the control group and 20 samples for the experimental group of cones # 35 corresponding to the clinic III (07h00 to 11h00). This study was carried out with the sampling of gutta-percha cones with the use of culture media such as blood agar, the presence of microbial contamination was observed, subsequently these ones were reseeded in media such as Salted Mannitol Agar, Macconkey and Sabouraud with Chloramphenicol. The results achieved determined that there was a contamination in the entire sample, in addition, it was concluded that there was contamination of gutta-percha cones when exposed to a clinical environment.
