Description
Summary:ABSTRACT: Due to the fact that Ecuador is located in the equatorial zone and since the decrease in the density of the ozone layer, its inhabitants are more prone to skin alterations associated with sun exposure. Therefore, it is a challenge for the health team to increase coverage in terms of promoting healthy habits and practices in the local population. The present research project was developed with the objective of establishing the practices and knowledge about photoprotection in nursing students of an Ecuadorian university, for which a study with a quantitative approach was developed, applying an instrument to evaluate sociodemographic characteristics, practices, habits and knowledge about photoprotection. Among the results obtained, the following stand out: the use of creams with sun protection factor and the concern of developing skin cancer; the level of knowledge in most of the participants is low, which shows the need to reinforce the training about this topic.
