The protocols used by agricultural tree tomato producers were evaluated, where errors were found, which resulted in the reduction of quality and the loss of the final product. Mainly because 82% of farmers are unaware of the proper post-harvest handling of the product once harvested. A proposal was developed for the optimal post-harvest process of the tree tomato, where it begins with selecting the product and ends with its transport. In addition, 97% of the producers comply with the environmental conditions for product storage. However, 100% of the producers do not have adequate vehicles to transport the product. According to the main findings, there is a need for implementing a program to train producers of “tree tomato” in post-harvest techniques, so losses are prevented, and product quality is boosted |

A través del análisis realizado a los productores agrícolas del cantón Chambo, los cuales están registrados como productores en el Ministerio de Agricultura y Ganadería (MAG). La investigación se desarrolló mediante el uso y aplicación de técnicas, métodos e instrumentos de investigación, así como datos proporcionados por el director provincial del MAG, se realizó encuestas a los productores agrícolas. Se evaluaron los protocolos utilizados por los productores agrícolas de tomate de árbol, donde se encontró errores, los cuales dan como resultado la reducción de la calidad y la pérdida del producto final. Esto se debe principalmente a que, el 82% de agricultores desconocen sobre el manejo poscosecha apropiado del producto, una vez cosechado. Se elaboró una propuesta para el proceso óptimo poscosecha del tomate de árbol, donde se inicia con la selección del producto y termina en el transporte del mismo. Además el 97% de los productores cumplen con las condiciones ambientales para el almacenamiento del producto, sin embargo el 100% de los productores no poseen vehículos adecuados para el transporte del producto.
