| Özet: | Provincial governments, with their constitutional delegations, are faced with an urgent need to plan and maintain roads in the rural sector. The current state of road maintenance presents several pressing issues. The lack of an updated road inventory, which should identify the asphalt roads in need of routine and periodic maintenance, further complicates the situation. This problem is pervasive throughout Ecuador, with second-order roads deteriorating prematurely. This could be attributed to inefficient studies or poor supervision, leading to a lack of early road maintenance and potentially higher public expenses for future reconstructions. Implementing early maintenance could lead to significant cost savings. Therefore, the present research presents a comprehensive “Road Maintenance Management Model for flexible pavements of the rural road network of the Guano Canton”. This model, a technical memory, provides a detailed chronogram and budget for the necessary maintenance steps. It ensures that the appropriate standards for routine and periodic techniques are applied, based on the resources of the province, thereby guaranteeing its effectiveness. With a quantitative and qualitative approach, the research is based on the pavement condition index (PCI) method, allowing a superficial assessment of the road through a visual inspection of the pavement. In addition, the road inventory is updated to support the verification stage of the structures that make up the road and works of art, thus obtaining a study that contributes to the knowledge of those who are immersed in this discipline. |
