總結:ABSTRACT: Arteriosclerosis is one of the most frequent diseases that cause a high number of deaths worldwide, with a higher rate in the adult population, presenting marked overweight. That is why this research aims to investigate the predictive value of the lipid profile in the diagnosis and follow-up of patients with arteriosclerosis, taking into account the different parameters of the serum profile. The methodology used had a qualitative, descriptive, documentary, cross-sectional and retrospective cohort approach based on a bibliographical investigation, through the search of primary and secondary sources, for which a population of 114 scientific texts was used, The sample that was used was 45 articles related to arteriosclerosis and laboratory tests that help the diagnosis and follow-up of patients suffering from this pathology. This information was compiled from different scientific databases such as: Scielo, Elsevier, Medigraphic, Scopus, Pubmed, Medline, Latindex, academic Google, books and digital manuals published in the last 10 years, for the search the use of keywords was used. The results obtained show that an early diagnosis can prevent the patient from presenting dyslipidemia, diabetes mellitus, arterial hypertension, overweight, obesity as well as cardiovascular diseases in which the reference values of total cholesterol are: >200 mg/dL, c-HDL : > 40-60 mg/dL, LDL-c: <100 mg/dL and triglycerides >150 mg/dL.
