Streszczenie:Diabetes mellitus type 2 is a chronic disease, these patients will have multiple changes in their personal life, social, lifestyle, an inadequate acceptance of their condition can cause signs and symptoms of emotional involvement. Objective: To determine the incidence of anxiety and depression in patients with DM type 2 in the outpatient clinic of the Hospital Provincial General Docente Riobamba. Material and methods: A descriptive, correlational, non-experimental, cross-sectional study was conducted on 284 patients diagnosed with Diabetes Mellitus Type 2 in November 2018 and April 2019, for this study the Hamilton Anxiety and Depression scale was used. The data obtained were processed in Excel. The investigation was conducted with a 95% confidence interval. Results: The data obtained were that 5.63% presented depression 4.93% female sex, 0.7% male sex, 23.59% presented anxiety, 19.37% women and 4.22% men, for minor depression 3, 17%, moderate 1.76% severe 0.35% very severe 0.35%, for anxiety 0.35% greater anxiety, 23.24% minor anxiety, 7.0% in patients with DMT2 a time of evolution less than 4 years for anxiety and 1.8% more than 25 years for depression. Conclusions: There is a low relationship between patients diagnosed with diabetes mellitus type 2 and the appearance of symptoms of anxiety and depression
