Summary:ABSTRACT Objectives: This work has the purpose of providing an analysis of the clinical and therapeutic characteristics of Achilles tendon injuries, taking into account the associated causes, grouping of symptoms and signs of clinical suspicion, and characteristics of each injury with the most detailed information. updated that brings together scattered information for timely diagnosis and treatment. Methods: Literature review supported by searches carried out in databases such as Cochrane Lybrary, Pubmed, Web of Science, Science Direct, Lilacs and manual searches of the last 5 years in good quality studies. Results: About 150 scientific articles analyzed, but according to the inclusion criteria 30 qualified, which include meta-analyses, systematic reviews and court studies, 90% in English and the remaining 10% in other languages, the results showed several treatment options, with good results if combined with functional rehabilitation with early loading, the images can be a guide in the diagnosis in case of doubt, but it must be taken into account that there is a percentage of patients who do not present signs rupture ultrasound, so the clinic will always be mandatory. Conclusions: The diagnosis of an Achilles tendon injury is purely clinical, the images used to confirm or rule out other pathologies, both surgical and non-surgical treatment offers benefits and drawbacks, which is why there is no ideal treatment, regardless of the treatment that is decided to follow the use of an early rehabilitation protocol offers optimal results without significant differences for conservative and surgical treatment.
