Riassunto:Teaching first degree equations is essential in the mathematical development of students, as it lays the foundation for understanding more advanced concepts in the algebraic field. That is why the present research aims to develop a didactic guide for the teaching-learning of first-degree equations based on the PBL method in students of the ninth year of the “Saraguro” Educational Unit. The methodology used was based on a quantitative approach and a non-experimental design. As research techniques, an objective test was applied to 21 students in the ninth year of basic education and an interview with 3 teachers from the mathematics department. As a result, it was evident that 66.67% of the students did not achieve the required learning, where they obtained an academic performance (mean) of 3.14, with a maximum grade achieved of 6, a minimum grade achieved of 2 and a frequency (variance) of 1.73. Finally, a teaching guide was developed where activities and resources were proposed for teaching first degree equations using the PBL method. Concluding that the activities and resources proposed in this context allow students to apply their theoretical knowledge to specific situations, promoting deeper and more meaningful learning. In addition, this methodology will promote the development of problem-solving skills, critical thinking, teamwork and essential skills in education and in the daily life of students, which is why the effective implementation of the PBL method is recommended to address these needs in terms of problem solving adapted to the real context.
