Zusammenfassung: | ABSTRACT The research was carried out with the objective of making an analysis of the characterization of oral health in schoolchildren in the Second Years of Basic Education and Second Years of High School in the different Educational Units of Sector 3, Riobamba, 2021. This was a descriptive cross-sectional research. The population study was of 67 students with each of their representatives and seven teachers from each of the educational institutions. The research was carried out by means of the observation technique and using the clinical history, a test, a survey and a questionnaire as instruments. The results obtained in the present investigation indicated an equal level of knowledge between bad and regular in the schoolchildren, while in the teachers a regular level was obtained; regarding the CMFS and CMFT index, a low severity level was obtained, that is, between 1.2 and 2.6 according to the WHO. In the application of the O`Leary index, a deficient level of plaque was determined in most of the students and a statistically significant correlation was also obtained with the consumption of snacks (p=0.022). It is concluded that there was no relationship between the level of knowledge of the students surveyed with the CMFS and CMFT index since the level of severity was between bad and regular while the students had knowledge between bad and regular. Keywords: oral health, characterization, CMFS and CMFT index, dental caries. |
