Shrnutí:Currently, water has become a fundamental element for human life as it helps to prevent diseases, to improve health and to carry out daily activities. Therefore, the present research work aims to study the behavior of residential hourly consumption of drinking water in the Guamote canton, where was carried out a study of the area and were identified the distribution networks that the canton has to provide drinking water service to its inhabitants. Once the networks were identified: San Juan Bajo, San Juan Alto and Carapungo, was carried out a study of the socioeconomic stratification, obtaining as results three strata B, C and D. To obtain the hourly consumption of each network, were read 35 meters. As a result, hourly curves were obtained with their respective maximum flow rates for San Juan Bajo of 150.40 l/h at 12h00, San Juan Alto of 135.90 l/h at 13h00 and Carapungo of 129.25 l/h at 20h00. According to CPE INEN 5 (1992) standard, hourly variation coefficients should be within the range of 2 to 2.3, but based on the study conducted, it was observed that in the Guamote canton it exceeds the limits established by the standard, as in the San Juan Bajo network, the maximum is 2.52, San Juan Alto of 2.55 and Carapungo of 2.58. Finally, the average flow rate of potable water was 65.94 l/h in the Guamote canton
