সংক্ষিপ্ত:ABSTRACT: The current research dealt with the prevention, monitoring, and mitigation of significant risks, whether of natural or anthropic origin, based on a history of dangerous events that have developed within the province of Chimborazo, thus seeking to reduce the impacts that could cause to the population. The particularities of the geographical location, climatic conditions, and geological and tectonic factors make the Ecuadorian territory be classified as multi-threat; for this reason, this research was developed to manage Major Risks in the Chimborazo province through the use of tools GIS, identifying the history of dangerous events that have arisen within the province of Chimborazo, thus obtaining a baseline that can be used for the analysis and evaluation of these threats to public and private companies. For the research development, the methodology used is quasi-experimental; due to its characteristics, it is suitable in realistic situations where all relevant variables cannot be controlled since a history of ten years ago was taken as a baseline of hazardous event records. Through the management of significant risks carried out through t he use of the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) tool, support information was generated for the technicians of the Risk Management Units of the ten towns of the province of Chimborazo, which they can use as a baseline for advice on the preparation of contingency plans in their cantons.
