Riassunto:This research was conducted at the Nazareno Christian Educational Unit. Riobamba, to determine the reading and writing difficulties in children in the third and fourth year of general basic education. Theoretically, it was evidenced that the problems that most children present in the Primary Education stage represent a considerable percentage of learning difficulties in general. The learning of reading and writing is undoubtedly one of the most commonly changed. Therefore, this is the primary acquisition for further education, so specific problems interfere with the school progress of the children who experience them. The student with difficulties in reading and writing not only has problems in the area of Language and Literature but also in the rest of the learning areas. (Buitrago.) The methodology in this research was worked with a qualitative approach, with a non-experimental design, with an experimental, field, bibliographic, and transversal type, with an Analytic-Synthetic and Inductive-Deductive method, with a population that conformed the students of the third and fourth year of basic education, the sample that was used was non-probabilistic and intentional of 54 children. The technique used to assess the students was a psychometric test, and the instrument chosen was the Ricardo Olea Reading and Writing Test. This test is widely recognized for its ability to measure reading and writing skills in children, and it was instrumental in collecting, analyzing, and interpreting the data, which led to the conclusion that students have varying degrees of learning difficulties in reading and writing, including omissions, repetitions, reading and writing errors, slow reading speed and lower fluency, all of which cause learning problems in children.
