| Summary: | Pregnancy is a condition in which a woman's body undergoes multiple anatomical and physiological changes, with acute cholecystitis being one of the most common non-obstetric complications, causing maternal-fetal complications due to the hormonal fluctuations characteristic of pregnancy, specifically the alteration of progesterone and estrogen responsible for generating hyperlipidemia and reduced gallbladder emptying, that is why this study aims to investigate, through a review of the current literature in different databases, the risk factors and sociodemographic characteristics, clinical manifestations such as nausea, vomiting, pain in the right upper quadrant, and fever, usually after eating large meals, as well as diagnostic criteria such as the Tokyo criteria, Murphy's signs, laboratory and imaging signs, and finally obstetric complications of acute cholecystitis in pregnant women according to the trimester of gestation, which in the worst cases ends in pregnancy termination or preterm delivery. |
