Estudio etnográfico de la representación de los Diablitos del Sesquicentenario como fiesta cultural de Riobamba, periodo

ABSTRACT: The present research work studies the Diablitos Sesquicentenario to identify the representation of this character in the festivities of the city of Riobamba in the period 2014- 2019. In this way, it is possible to identify how the character is seen before, during, and after its creation. The methodology used in said research was a qualitative methodology, with the purpose of obtaining specific qualities of the Sesquicentennial Diablitos, identifying their meanings and traditions, as well as analyzing how they act in each of the presentations. In this way, the research deals with the importance of the Diablitos Sesquicentenario as a traditional and representative character of Riobamba, Ecuador. Through relevant studies conducted in the field, the origin of the Diablito, its evolution and its significance in the local culture have been investigated. However, its popularity has decreased due to the influence of new cultures, traditions, and fashions. In this sense, certain conclusions have been established, which were identified based on the studies, interviews, and observations that were made. Therefore, recommendations are presented to disseminate and preserve this cultural heritage and promote the appreciation of a Riobambeña tradition among children, youth, and adults.
