Uso del aloe vera como coadyuvante al tratamiento enfermedad periodontal.

The objective of the present research is to use Aloe Vera, it may act as an aid to the Periodontal Disease treatment, obtained through the lyophilization process at the research Laboratory of the Universidad Nacional of Chimborazo. In this study, the Bacterial Plaque and Gingival Inflammation indexes were identified in two groups (experimental and control) before applying 15 and 30 days after the continuous use of a mouthwash made with lyophilized Aloe Vera powder and another mouthwash based on distilled water. Among 30 patients have participated in the experiment, who attended the dental clinics of the Universidad Nacional of Chimborazo and residents in the Cisneros de Tapi neighborhood of Riobamba town , so that, 20 patients were assigned after evaluation with gingival disease. The following results were obtained from the total number of patients diagnosed, from an initial grade 3 plaque index it was achieved that 50% of patients presented a decrease of grade 1 plaque index. Regarding the diagnosis in gingival inflammation, initially patients presented a gingival grade 2-3, after its application it was possible to reduce 30% of patients to a grade 1, making it clear that the treatment helped in a supplementary way in the prevention and treatment of Periodontal Disease. With these results we can conclude that the mouthwash of aloe vera to be a natural product has a relevant effect, improving the oral health conditions of patients, which has been obtained the expected results.
