| Summary: | ABSTRACT: Congenital kidney and urinary tract anomalies occur in 3-6/1,000 live births; Hydronephrosis is an abnormal dilation of the pelvicalyceal system, and it is known that between 30% and 40% of Hydronephrosis diagnosed in the prenatal stage persist. In the postnatal stage, between 30% and 60% resolve spontaneously, and less than 15% require surgical intervention. The present study aims to determine the prevalence and complications of congenital Hydronephrosis in newborns at the Carlos Andrade Marín hospital from September 2021-August 2022. It is a descriptive, retrospective crosssectional study with a quantitative-qualitative approach., a total of 1028 neonates were analyzed between September 2021 and August 2022, and 417 references were attended, giving a total of 1445 patients, of whom 85 patients with a diagnosis of Congenital Hydronephrosis were found and who met the inclusion diagnoses, for the execution of tables for data, the Word program was used. The results were that congenital Hydronephrosis occurs more frequently in mothers between 30 and 35 years of age, 57.65%, concerning prenatal controls, 54.12% complying with 7 to 9 prenatal rules, and the most frequent maternal occupation was domestic chores, with 43.53%. It was determined that Hydronephrosis is prevalent in the male sex with 55.29%. Other factors were analyzed, such as birth weight, 2000-3000gr with the highest percentage of 61.18%; another interesting data obtained was that the ultrasound diagnosis concerning gestational age was at 33 weeks with 82.35%, the Hydronephrosis detected in the highest percentage was unilateral with 78.82%, according to the degree of Hydronephrosis the most frequent was grade 3 with 52.94%, the prevalent etiology turned out to be vesicoureteral reflux with 52.49%, and the most detected complication was sepsis with 61.18%. It is a pathology of minor diagnosed etiology in the prenatal and postnatal stages. The present study allows an update of the local reality, which guarantees better outcomes in future pregnancies or, in turn, allows diagnosing of nephrological anomalies in time for its comprehensive approach. And timely. Keywords: congenital anomaly, Hydronephrosis, prenatal control, vesicoureteral reflux. |
