Sumari:The present investigation was carried out with the objective of determining the knowledge on the interventions for the therapeutic adherence of the hypertensive adult carried out by the nursing staff of the Operative Units of the city of Puyo, the population under study was formed by 25 nursing professionals with an age range between 23 and 47 years old, being more frequent the female gender with 92%. With respect to knowledge about the concept of hypertension, 44% respond incorrectly; as regards altered blood pressure values, 64% do not know it; while 100% do not know the classification of the stages of hypertension according to WHO; With regard to the risk factors for the occurrence of hypertension, 52% do not respond correctly; Regarding knowledge about therapeutic adherence, we can see that 76% of the answers were incorrect and 64% did not know about the consequences of poor therapeutic adherence; as well as 88% do not know about the evaluation of therapeutic adherence tests; corroborating that 92% does not respond correctly in terms of the interventions that must be performed to manage the hypertensive adult. By what means that the knowledge is insufficient in relation to the subject, being the nursing professional the important talent to promote the health and to offer education to the patient on therapeutic adherence; this is related to the lack of training programs, as well as the inadequate management of the hypertensive patient by the nursing staff.
