| Riassunto: | The main objective of this study was to analyze bad-occlusions and their relationship with quality life in patients aged from 10 to 19 years old who attended at dental service in “Hospital Provincial General Docente de Riobamba”. The sample was made up of 82 teenagers who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The technique used was the survey, and the questionnaire as an instrument on the psychosocial impact of dental aesthetics (PIDAQ), the index of need for orthodontic treatment, aesthetic component (IOTN AC). Data processing showed a prevalence of class I malocclusion in males as well as females. It was observed that 90.25% of teenagers have a perception of the need for mild orthodontic treatment. By using the statistical significance test of Kruskall Wallis (p = 0.223) determined that there was not relationship between bad-occlusions and quality life of teenagers. With the results of the study, it was concluded that teenagers have good confidence in their own dental aesthetics; however, they have divided opinions regarding being satisfied with appearance of their teeth, with the social and psychosocial domains. Also, it indicates a low value. As a result, it concludes that they don´t show neither any feeling of inferiority nor their social relationships are affected. Nonetheless, the studied population stated that they would like their teeth to be more beautiful, in the domain of concern for aesthetics they presented little concern when looking in the mirror and photographs |
