Descripció
Sumari:This study examines the impact of play activities on the development of mnemonic skills in children attending preschool level 2 at the Fernando Daquilema Educational Unit in Riobamba Canton. The primary objective was to analyze how playful activities influence the development of mnemonic skills in preschool children through a qualitative approach. This approach facilitated a better understanding of the cognitive processes involved in retaining information while engaging in play. A descriptive and explanatory research design was utilized, with systematic observation as the primary data collection method. A structured observation form assessed tasks such as following instructions, remembering songs and stories, reproducing sequences, and locating objects among 30 children. The results indicated that many children performed well, particularly in song repetition (100%) and spatial memory (96.7%). Qualitative data analysis revealed learning patterns that highlight the effectiveness of play in enhancing children’s memory. A comparative discussion with previous research confirmed that playful learning significantly improves memory, consistent with the theories of Vygotsky and Piaget. In conclusion, employing playful strategies proves to be highly effective; however, it is recommended that teacher training be enhanced and activities be diversified to optimize the development of all mnemonic skills. Additionally, parents should be encouraged to participate in the learning process to reinforce children’s memory inside and outside the classroom
