| 总结: | ABSTRAC This study focuses on prisonization and social rehabilitation in the context of the Riobamba Social Rehabilitation Center in Ecuador. The main objective is the analysis, through a legal-doctrinal study, of the prisonization process and its effect on the social rehabilitation system. A mixed-methods field study approach was used, including surveys and interviews with judges, prosecutors, the center director, rehabilitation psychologists, certified social workers, and incarcerated individuals. Legal documents, scientific literature and statistics related to the Ecuadorian prison system and rehabilitation were analyzed. The results revealed that prisonization is an evident phenomenon in the Ecuadorian penitentiary system, influenced by factors such as the prison environment and internal culture. Participants expressed concerns about the effectiveness of rehabilitation programs, highlighting the need for ongoing evaluation and adaptation. Challenges were also identified in the social reintegration of people deprived of liberty due to imprisonment. Prisonization has a significant impact on prisoners, making it difficult for them to successfully reintegrate into society. Furthermore, this phenomenon is not exclusive to Ecuador, since it is observed in prison systems in other countries. Divergent opinions on the effectiveness of rehabilitation programs highlight the need for improvements and comprehensive approaches. It is recommended to strengthen rehabilitation programs, including education and job training, and promote equitable access to these programs.
