Caracterización de la mano de obra para la construccion de obras civiles en la zonas 3 y 6 del Ecuador

The construction industry, which is one of the largest in the country, and the application of new philosophies and procedures have gained importance due to the competitiveness required by the market. However, the lack of an accurate database hinders the identification of the necessary elements in order to detect impending problems. One of the most important elements in this field is the human resource, since it is of vital importance and directly affects the process. The categorization of available labor for construction in Ecuador is an issue that has not been researched significantly. At the national level, there are documents that illustrate labor in some way, however, considering that each region or area of the country has different features: demographic, geographic and capacity, its analysis by location is essential. The purpose of this research is to categorize the available construction workforce corresponding to zone 3 and 6 in the country, which includes the demographic, geographical and capacity aspects. Consequently, surveys have been carried out on people involved in this activity. These surveys have been applied to 511 people in the capitals of each province belonging to the areas under study. The results of this study indicate a high lack of knowledge in workers; at least 71.62% do not have a good level of technical knowledge.
